New Scholarship Opportunity for A+ Students
Drury University and Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) agree to dual admit A+ students to both institutions. Qualifying A+ students that began at OTC in the fall of 2009, as freshmen, are eligible for the program. To be qualified for early admission at Drury, the A+ students must be admissible to Drury, maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average each semester at OTC and graduate from OTC with an associate’s degree. Drury will make available several special $5,000 scholarships for which only A+ pre-admitted students are eligible. Click on the link for details or watch the video for the official announcement.
Math Study Strategies Course Provides Extra Help

TLC 023 - Math Study Strategies is a one credit-hour course that changes the success rate of students in math by helping them implement strategies that have been proven to be successful. This class affords students the opportunity to be proactive in their learning and provides them with the skills they need to take control of their future in math.
Fall Classes Begin with Nearly 13,000 Students Enrolled
With fall classes beginning today, enrollment at Ozarks Technical Community
College has increased once again. A total of 12,902 students are enrolled this fall, 15.5% percent
higher than the fall of 2008. The most significant growth is at the College’s Waynesville Education
Center, which is showing an increase of more than 64%, with 209 students enrolled. Enrollment is up by
more than 10% at the Springfield campus, with 8,887 students taking classes this fall. The Richwood Valley campus has 1,096 students enrolled, an increase of more than 28%. An additional
309 students are taking courses at both the Springfield and Richwood Valley locations, up more than 36%
from the fall of 2008. Online enrollment is up more than 33%, with 1,505 students taking the majority of
their classes online. The Lebanon Education Center is up by nearly 15%, with 475 students enrolled. The
College’s Branson Education Center is serving 421 students this semester, up nearly 14% from last fall.
Culinary Arts Students Fill Area Restaurant Needs

Click for VideoStudents in OTC’s culinary arts program are cooking up a great future for themselves, in addition to elevating the program one of the 10 most popular offered at the College. The two-year program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation, has more than 180 students enrolled in culinary arts and hospitality management, and is filling the need for workers in culinary arts and hospitality management.
Faculty Member Recognized for 50 Years of Teaching
Carl Locke, who has taught for 50 years, will be retiring from full-time teaching from the College. Locke is one of about two dozen remaining faculty members who have taught at both Graff Area VO/Tech and OTC. He started as a teacher in the Springfield public schools in 1959 and joined Graff in 1973. He taught electricity courses at Graff and the College for 36 years.
First-Ever RN Pinning Ceremony

Click for Video The Associate of Science in Nursing program at Ozarks Technical Community College held a pinning ceremony for its 2009 graduates on Wednesday, May 13. This
year’s event, which was held at the Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield, marked the first-ever
graduating class from the new program. The ASN program is designed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) program
that permits the qualifying LPN to complete the RN nursing courses in 36 weeks. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
2009 Commencement
421 OTC Students participated in Ozarks Technical Community College's 2009 Commencement ceremony. The event was held Thursday, May 14 in the JQH Arena on Missouri State University's campus. A total of 1,222 students graduated between the summer 2008 semester and the summer 2009 semester. Thousands of family members and friends filled the arena to watch the graduates receive their degrees.
2008 Year in Review
Throughout the last year, Ozarks Technical Community College has shown significant growth in a wide variety of areas. New partnerships have been formed, enrollment has increased, physical space has expanded, and students’ lives have been changed. The Year in Review video showcases the exciting new programs, cultural and community events, and historic milestones the College experienced in 2008.
OTC Foundation: Donor Recognition Event
The OTC Foundation grants nearly 200 student scholarships per year due to the generosity of the Foundation’s many donors. The private donations come from local individuals, businesses and memorial scholarships. Recently, scholarship recipients and donors were given the opportunity to meet face to face. For the donors it was a chance to put a face with their contribution and for the recipients it was a chance to say “thank you.”
